Sierra Composites has just released its first structural tubing product, a 3″ carbon fiber square tube. Sierra Composites prides itself on manufacturing the highest quality carbon fiber products and would not release our 3″ square tubing until it was perfected. There are other suppliers of smaller sized square tubing made using similar carbon fiber braid material, however the surface quality is very poor containing voids and very textured from the raw fabic itself, this was obviously the result of a wet layup at least on the surface layer and the result is a poor quality product. This inferior square tubing is also much more expensive. Sierra Composites offers the best products at the best pricing you will find. This carbon fiber / basalt hybrid sheet is one of a series of prototype 2.5mm sheets we made specifically for R/C use. The sheet is double sided smooth and glossy. The sheet was made using Hexcel IM7GP 5HS and Basalt fabric 12K Unidirectional. The unidirectional is positioned down the length of the sheet, giving the most rigidity in that direction. We would like some feedback on these, we would like to know if our customers like this product enough to include into our line of carbon fiber sheet products.
